He was married to <a href="http://www.luciefield.net/extree/getperson.php?personID=I1471&tree=Field">Caroline A. McCartney</a> (1825-1894). His daughter <a href="http://www.luciefield.net/extree/getperson.php?personID=I64&tree=Field">Sarah Jane "Sally" Knaub</a> (1853-1876) was <a href="http://www.luciefield.net/extree/getperson.php?personID=I47&tree=Field">George Emery Field's</a> first wife. She died due to complications of childbirth on 9 October 1876 from their child <a href="http://www.luciefield.net/extree/getperson.php?personID=I2496&tree=Field">Wilber Wallace Field</a> (1876-1878), who died 2 years later.
