Funeral today for father of Eugene Field

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) for Howard A. Field, 77, father of Eugene Field of Patterson. He died last Friday in Kingsburg.

A native of Nappanee, Ind. He retired after working in the composing rooms of both the Modesto and Fresno Bees. He lived in Turlock for five years before moving to Fresno and then Kingsburg 17 years ago.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Kingsburg Golf and Country Club.

The funeral will be held at the Creighton Memorial Chapel in Kingsburg, with burial in the Kingsburg Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Miriam Field of Kingsburg: sons Eugene Field of Patterson and Dennis Field of Kingsburg: one brother, three sisters and four grandchildren.

The Family requests that remembrances be sent to the Nancy Hinds Hospice Home of Fresno, 1416 Train Ave. Fresno.

Services for Howard Field, 77, of 46932 Road 32, will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Creighton Memorial Chapel, Kingsburg, Calif. burial will be in the Kingsburg Cemetery.

Mr. Field died at 10:32 a. m. Friday (Dec. 2, 1988) at the Nancy Hinds Hospice Home, Fresno Calif. Surviving is his wife, Miriam (Grafz), Kingsburg; two sons, Eugene, Patterson, Calif., and Dennis, Kingsburg: four gradchildren: a brother Leslie, Big Pine Key, Fla.; three sisters, Myrtle Williams, Chesterton, Mary Clouse, Nappanee, and Rae Wenger, Edwardsburg. A son, John, died in 1979.

Mr. Field was a 1929 graduate of Nappanee High School. He was a member of the Kingsburg United Methodist Church and retired in the late 1970s as a printer at the Fresno Bee News newspaper, where he was employed for 25 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Kingsburg River Golf and Country Club. Memorials may be given to the Hancy Hinds Hospice Home, Fresno Calif.

Howard A. Field, 46093 Rd. 32, Kingsburg, California, died Friday, December 2, in the Nancy Hinds Hospice in Fresno.

He was a son of Harvey and Marie Field, former owners of the Nappanee Advance-News, and a 1929 graduate of Nappanee High School. He retired from the Fresno Bee News in the late 70s, having worked there for over 25 years.

Mr. Field was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kingsbury [sic]. He was an avid golfer, and a member of the Kings River Golf & Country Club.

Surviving are Mrs. Field, the former Miriam Grasz; two sons: Eugene, Patterson, California, and Dennis, Kingsburg; 4 grandchildren: Lucy, Victor, Clover and Suzanne; a brother, Leslie, Florida, and three sisters: Myrtle Williams, Chesterton; Mary Clouse, Nappanee, and Rae Ellen Wenger, Edwardsburg, Michigan. He was preceeded in death by a son, John, in 1979.

Services will take place at the Creighton Funeral Home, Kingsburg, December 8.
